October is my favorite time of the year! I love when the leaves change and the weather starts to cool off! I enjoy dressing up my daughter all month long for Halloween! Today I'm going to show you how to make this cute Witch Hat clip - perfect for Halloween!
Supplies Needed: 2.25" Grosgrain Ribbon in Purple 7/8" Grosgrain Ribbon in Black 3/8" Grosgrain Ribbon in Orange Scissors Lighter Needle and Upholstery Thread Hot Glue Gun and Glue 1.75" Felt Circle - Black Lined Alligator Clip
Cut a 3" piece of your 2.25" purple ribbon. Trace a circle in the center of the ribbon. I used a bottle to make the circle. Cut your circle out and run a lighter around the edge to heat seal the ribbon. This is the base for your witches hat.
Cut a 4" piece of your 2.25" purple ribbon. Crease the center to make a visible line.
Fold one side of your ribbon to the center line.
Roll the side you folded to the end of the ribbon.
Glue the loose end to your hat.
Flatten your hat so you can see the excess ribbon at the bottom.
Cut the excess ribbon off. Heat seal the ends. This is the top of your witches hat, make sure it sits evenly.
Glue the top of your hat to the circle we made earlier.
Cut a 4" piece of your 3/8" orange ribbon. Cut the ends at an angle. Heat seal.
Glue the center of the orange ribbon at the back of your hat. I chose the part that I glued to be the back of my hat.
Wrap the orange ribbon around the front. Start by wrapping the right side around and gluing. Then wrap the left side around, and glue down.
Cut a 4" piece of your 7/8" Black ribbon.
Fold the ribbon into a circle. Flatten your circle, make sure the ribbon is centered. Sew up through the center of your bow. Wrap the thread around the bow several times and tie off securely.
Cover the center of your bow with your 3/8" orange ribbon.
Add your bow to the front of your witches hat.
To make your witches hat stable, hot glue a felt circle to the bottom. Add your lined clip.
You can easily add other embellishments and materials to give your hat a completely different look. Glitter or rhinestones will give your hat sparkle!
