DIY Summer Ribbon Flower Headband Tutorial

How to Make Your Own Daisy Flower Headband

Contributor post by Danielle at Korker Krazy

This adorable little headband just shouts "SUMMER" with it's charming white daisies and bright yellow elastic band!  The flowers are fun to create and lend themselves to so many other possibilities; attach one to a hair clip, add a brooch pin, sew onto curtains and pillows, or attach to a hand-made greeting card.

Supplies Needed: 7/8" Grosgrain Ribbon in White 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon in Yellow and Pale Yellow Fold Over Elastic in Yellow Hot Glue Gun & Glue Needle and Thread Lighter Scissors/Wood Burning Tool Felt Circles

Cut your ribbon. Cut 30 2" pieces of your white grosgrain ribbon. 10 pieces for each flower. Heat seal the ribbon ends.

Make your flower petals. Take one piece and fold the top over to the left at a 90 degree angle. Next, fold that same piece back down on top of the other side of the ribbon, make sure your ends are lined up evenly.

Thread your needle through your flower petal. We will thread it through the needle in 4 spots.

Continue adding your ribbon pieces onto your needle and thread.

I have added five pieces and have the remaining five to add.

I now have all 10 flower petals on my thread.

Thread your needle back through the first flower petal.

Pull the thread until the petals form a circle.

Pull your thread to bunch up your ribbon petals. Tie the thread and cut it off.

Flip your flower over and adjust the ribbon petals to slightly overlap each other.

Cut your 1/4" ribbon. Two 6" pieces of yellow and one 6" piece of pale yellow. Heat seal the ribbon ends. We are going to roll the ribbon into a circle. Fold the ribbon in half and hot glue the ends together.

Start rolling your ribbon, making sure the ribbon is folded in half as you roll.

When you reach the end of the ribbon hot glue it in half and then hot glue it down.

Hot glue the center to the center of your flower.

Repeat the above steps to complete your other flowers.

Use the size chart to cut your elastic to the correct length. Heat seal the ends.

Hot glue the ends of your elastic together to form your headband.

Hot glue your flowers to your headband. Glue your middle flower to the center of the headband.

Glue the other flowers on each side.

Flip your headband over and hot glue the felt circles on the back of each flower.
